A historical clip sparked imagination

Mike Dunn, of Dunn Lumber, watched the PBS documentary “The Boys of ‘36,” and noticed the historical footage included Dunn Lumber’s sign on Lake Union.

Find the story

Mike asked the team to bring the six seconds of footage to life but gave us the freedom to uncover the story to tell.

Turn it into a documentary

As the associate creative director, script supervisor, and screenwriter on this project, I worked closely with our team to uncover the story of Joe Rantz’s granddaughter, Jennifer, and tell her story of connecting with Joe through his rowing legacy, creating an accompanying campaign to promote the documentary.

A SIFF Film is born

The Documentary “Us Against the World” premiered at Seattle International Film Festival, gaining local recognition for Dunn Lumber.
